Kisii: Nyakeiri Secondary School students report to back after strike

The Kisii’s Nyakeiri Secondary School students have resumed studies as the school reopened after temporal closure caused by fire outbreak  that gutted down a dormitory and left 90 students without bedding and other learning essentials.

After the incident the students were sent home but reported back at school on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Speaking at the school, Kisii County Governor Simba Arati asked learners to seek dialogue with their teachers whenever they felt treated unfairly instead of venting into school property causing a lot of damage.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by some misguided students but no suspect has been arrested.

Governor Arati donated metal boxes, blankets and mattresses to each of the affected students, urging the students concentrate in their studies for a prosperous feature.

He asked the police to carry thorough investigation and arrest the suspect and warned the students of fierce consequences on whoever will be found guilt by the law.
