Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo has accused Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba of sidelining elected leaders and failing to involve Members of Parliament (MPs) in constituency projects.

Speaking on Wednesday at the 2026 Legislative Retreat of the National Assembly in Naivasha, Gogo accused the CS of ignoring calls and texts, sidelining MPs, and making development commitments without their input. She warned that poor communication undermines service delivery and trust between the national government and local leadership.

“Why don’t you pick up your calls? I am a representative of the people,” Gogo said, citing a recent visit by Ogamba to Rangwe Constituency, where she claimed she was not informed despite the local team hosting the Ministry. She also criticised the CS for promising a multipurpose facility without involving her office.

In response, CS Ogamba apologised, promising to be more responsive to MPs. “I apologise if I have not been picking your calls. I want to assure you that I will be picking calls,” he said, adding that he had not personally visited Rangwe.

The retreat, presided over by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, is currently taking place in Naivasha, Nakuru County, having commenced on Monday, January 26, 2026. It is themed “Securing Parliamentary Legacy: Delivering the Fifth Session’s Agenda and Preparing for Transition,” offering a platform for strategic discussions 17 months before the next general election.
