Bobasi Constituency Member of Parliament, MP Innocent Obiri has urged students who did not get qualifying grades to University to join middle level colleges like Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC) or Technical and Vocational Education Institutes to advance their careers.
MP Obiri said that there are many ways of achieving quality education and continue with successful life , urging the youth to explore and exploit those avenues.
“I am not trying to say that University education is not important but only advising our children to choose market driven careers in their pursuit of education.” He said.
The law maker was addressing the Public at Kenya Medical Training College, (KMTC ) Nyamache Campus on Wednesday during the handing over of site for the construction for the institution’s hostel.
The MP was flanked by officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing Department, who confirmed that the government will spend Ksh150 Million to construct the hostels that will accommodate 354 students after their completion.

The MP said that the construction work will be completed by the end of this year adding that it will provide an opportunity for 800 skilled and unskilled labour for residents who will earn a living directly from working on the site.
The legislator added that those with prior- construction experiences but have no certifications, will be given priority and use the occasion to earn more experience that will enable them to be certified and continue to work as professionals.
He asked the site managers to source the constructions materials like bricks which are readily available in the locality to enable the populace get money to take their children to school.
