Webuye East Member of Parliament MP Martin Wanyonyi has stepped in to secure the education of Jansen Neema, a bright student from Webuye East, who scored an impressive 67 points but due to financial constraints was being forced to repeat her Grade 9 class.
However now, Neema is all happy after being admitted to St. Cecilia Girls High School on a full scholarship marking a turning point in her academic journey.
Speaking on Wednesday after admissions, the MP said no child’s future should be limited by inability to pay school fees, saying that leadership is about compassion.
“Education is a right, not a privilege,” MP Wanyonyi said, highlighting the importance of supporting students who face barriers beyond their control.
Jansen’s case reflects a reality many students face across the country, where financial hurdles prevent bright learners from advancing despite their capabilities. By stepping in, local leadership has ensured that talent and determination are not wasted; giving Jansen the opportunity to pursue her dreams and unlock her full potential.

Education stakeholders have praised the move, noting that timely interventions like these can change the trajectory of a student’s life. The scholarship not only covers tuition fees but also serves as a morale boost, affirming to Jansen and others in similar situations that hard work and perseverance can open doors—even when circumstances seem limiting.
For Jansen, the new school represents hope, opportunity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Her story is already inspiring other students in the constituency, demonstrating that challenges, no matter how formidable, can be overcome with the right support.
Jansen’s journey serves as a reminder to communities, leaders, and policymakers that ensuring access to quality education should remain a priority. When leaders act with compassion, they not only change individual lives but also contribute to a brighter, more equitable future for all.
With her scholarship in place, Jansen Neema is now ready to focus entirely on her studies, turning a once uncertain future into a promising pathway toward achievement and excellence.
