Kahuhia girls to host 8th annual technical subjects contest in March

Muranga’s Kahuhia girls’ high school is set to host its 8th Annual Technical Subjects Contest in March 8, 2026, bringing together students from secondary schools across the country in a competition aimed at strengthening performance in technical subjects.

The academic event, which will start at 7.00 a.m., seeks to demystify technical subjects and expose learners to current examination techniques in preparation for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

According to the school’s administration, the contest has continued to grow in scope and impact since its inception.

Subjects to be tested include Business Studies, Agriculture, Home Science, Computer Studies, French and Art and Design.

Top-performing students and schools in each subject will receive awards and trophies in recognition of excellence.

Participation will attract a registration fee of Ksh3,000 per subject, covering a set of ten students.

Each set will comprise six Form Four students and four Form Three students, giving candidates early exposure to competitive examination environments.

Kahuhia Girls’ High School reported that 86 schools participated in the 7th edition held in 2024, underscoring the contest’s growing popularity and relevance in enhancing technical subject performance nationwide.

Participating schools have been advised to organize lunch for their students and avail one teacher per subject to assist in marking during the contest.

The school’s technical department noted that the collaboration between teachers and examiners is a key component of the learning experience.

KCSE 2025 results released by the school showed strong performance in technical subjects, with mean scores of 11.10 in Home Science, 8.80 in French, 8.566 in Business Studies, 7.75 in Art and Design, 7.62 in Agriculture, and 6.56 in Computer Studies.

Schools interested in participating have been urged to confirm attendance early through the school’s technical department.
