The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and development partners, has announced a nationwide teacher-training programme on coding and robotics, scheduled for 22nd to 24th January 22nd to 24th 2026.
According to an official communication from CEMASTEA, one teacher from selected schools across the country will be nominated to participate in the residential workshop to be held at CEMASTEA headquarters in Karen, Nairobi.
The training targets teachers currently involved in the implementation of coding, robotics and computational thinking in Junior Schools, particularly those from institutions that benefited from robotics kits donated following virtual training conducted in July 2024.
The programme seeks to strengthen the integration of STEM education within the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) by equipping teachers with practical, hands-on skills in coding and robotics. It also aims to promote learner-centred teaching approaches and support the sustained and effective use of donated robotics kits in classrooms.

CEMASTEA will fully cater for participants’ training materials, accommodation and meals throughout the workshop.
In addition, trainees will receive transport and accommodation reimbursements in line with government DSA rates with total reimbursements expected to reach up to Ksh 50,000 per participant.
Selected teachers are required to report to CEMASTEA, Karen, on Wednesday, January 2, 2026, by 5:00 p.m.
Further logistical details will be communicated to the nominated participants in due course.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to advancing digital literacy, innovation, and 21st-century skills among learners, while empowering teachers to effectively deliver modern STEM education across Kenyan schools.
