The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet Branch Gender Secretary, Norah Chepkoech Cherukwen, has condemned the brutal killing of their colleague, Caro Ngetich, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher at Cheptagum School.
Speaking in Bomet, Cherukwen described the death of Caro Ngetich as a devastating loss to the teaching fraternity, her family, and the wider society.
“This tragedy once again highlights the urgent need to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in our communities. No one deserves to suffer in silence, fear or harm,” Cherukwen said, urging all teachers to speak out against any form of abuse.
She called on both women and men to reach out for support whenever facing threats, harassment, or violence.
“Talk to a trusted colleague, union leader, family member, or seek professional help. Help is available and your life matters,” she added.
Teacher Ngetich, who taught English and Literature at Cheptagum School, has been remembered by colleagues as a passionate educator dedicated to shaping the lives of her students.

As a mark of solidarity, KUPPET Bomet Branch has called on all teachers to attend Caro Ngetich’s send-off ceremony on Friday to stand with the family and support one another during this difficult moment.
Teachers were also encouraged to continue supporting the family and raising awareness against Gender-Based Violence through social media campaigns.
“Let us stand together as one family of teachers. Justice must be done. GBV must stop,” Cherukwen said.
