Kisumu Day Secondary records improved results, set to offer technical subjects

The Kisumu Day Secondary school has roared back into the academic limelight after years of dry results.

The learning institution, which is located in Kisumu town, realized a mean score of 6.1 in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, (KCSE) results compared to the previous year.

According to the senior principal Rabet Abidha, the school realized a positive deviation of 2 which was no mean feat in recent years.

Abidha added that out of the 315 who sat the tests, 130 candidates secured grade C+ and above out of securing direct entry to University.

Abidha said the current calibre of students have the ability to do even better since most of them joined form one with at least 300 marks and above, adding that they have now set a mean score of 7.5 moving forward.

He said that those superb results were realized after the hard work of the 57 members of the teaching fraternity, adding that parents and board of management also ensured that the learning institution posts impressive results.

Abidha also revealed that the school is ready for Grade 10 learners, alluding that that the extra county school will be attempting to diversify on as many pathways as possible in order to accord the learners a variety.

The Principal further said that they want to introduce subjects such as metal work, woodwork and marine sciences, adding that they will be coordinating with the Kisumu National polytechnic towards that end alongside the Kenya Ports Authority.

The school, he said, currently offers some 14 subjects and has been a powerhouse in soccer and hockey together with music.
