Governor Barasa commissions state of the art ECDE centre in Mumias

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa on Tuesday officially commissioned the new Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Centre at Elwasambi Primary School in Lusheya-Lubinu Ward, Mumias East Sub-County.

The facility, fully equipped with modern learning materials, is set to provide a conducive environment for early childhood learning, laying a strong foundation for the county’s youngest learners.

Speaking during the event, Governor Barasa highlighted the county government’s commitment to improving early education.

“Through the more than 60 ECDE projects being rolled out across Kakamega County, we are investing in our children’s future. These centres are critical in shaping a generation grounded in strong educational values, ensuring long-term development for our society,” he said.

Residents and local leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that access to quality early childhood education will enhance learning outcomes and equip children with the necessary skills for primary school and beyond.

The launch of the Elwasambi ECDE Centre is part of Kakamega County’s wider strategy to expand educational infrastructure and strengthen early learning, a move that promises lasting benefits for the community.
