Kapkesosio Secondary School in Chepalungu Sub-County, Bomet County has recorded worrying Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, with 29 candidates scoring an ‘E’ grade.

The overall school performance shows a mean grade of D-, raising concerns among parents, education stakeholders and the local community.

The school’s official grade analysis indicates that out of 67 students who sat the exams, none scored A or B grades. Only four students managed a C+ or C, while 28 scored D+, 2 achieved D and a staggering 29 candidates obtained an E.

Gender-specific analysis shows that among females, 16 scored E, while male students had 13 scoring the same grade.

Community members and school officials attribute the poor performance to a combination of factors, including students’ engagement in betting activities, excessive social interactions and prolonged absenteeism from school.

There are also concerns that some parents are unable to provide adequate supervision, leaving students without guidance.

Education stakeholders are calling for an urgent meeting to address the situation and develop strategies to improve discipline, teaching quality and academic performance at the school.

The Kapkesosio results serve as a wake-up call to both parents and education authorities to take decisive action to ensure students are focused, disciplined, and supported to achieve their potential.
