Belgut and Ainamoi sub-counties in Kericho County will on Friday, January 16, 2026, host a joint Disability Awareness Forum aimed at strengthening inclusion, advocacy and access to services for persons with disabilities.
The meeting will be held at Kapsoit Senior Hotel (VIP Lounge) from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm and is expected to bring together persons with disabilities, parents and guardians of children living with disabilities, community leaders and key stakeholders.
Organisers say the forum will provide a platform for open dialogue on disability rights, existing challenges and opportunities available to persons with disabilities at both county and national levels.
Participants will also be sensitised on government programmes, social protection initiatives and the importance of inclusive decision-making under the theme “Nothing for us without us.”
National Ambassador for Human and Disability Rights Philip Muge, who is organising the forum, said the engagement is part of a wider grassroots initiative to empower persons with disabilities and ensure their voices are heard in development planning.

“This forum is about awareness, dignity and participation. We want persons with disabilities and their families to understand their rights, available support systems and how to effectively engage leaders and institutions,” said Muge.
Parents of children with disabilities will also have an opportunity to share experiences and raise concerns affecting access to education, healthcare and assistive devices, while stakeholders will explore collaborative solutions to address gaps in service delivery.
Residents have been encouraged to attend in large numbers, with further information available through Muge or elected leaders in the respective sub-counties.
Organisers noted that similar disability awareness meetings are being planned in other sub-counties, with dates to be communicated in due course.
