St.Mary’s Nyabiore, little known school in Kisii shines in 2025 KCSE results

St. Mary’s Nyabiore Secondary School Girls School is among the little known Subcounty schools that posted impressive and improved 2025 KCSE examination results from Kenyenya in Kisii County.

From the school, 56 student got grades for direct University entry.

The School’s Principal Dorah Change said that the institution registered 89 students who sat for the examination successfully and first three students score grade B plain as other 21 students scored grade B- (minus) but 23 scored grade C+ while 32 candidates lay in grade C plain 20 lay in grade C minute and the last four achieved grade D+ plus.

She attributed the good performance that showed an improvement from a mean score of 5.7 in 2024 to 6.7 in 2025.

The elated Principal who joined her students to celebrate the results attributed the improved performance to the prevailing peace among the two communities of Kenyenya and Trans-mara who in most cases involved themselves in battles over cattle theft and grazing land and disturbed peace in the school which is situate along common Narok – Kisii Counties’ boundary.

She thanked the MPs Julius Sunkuli  from Kilgoris Constituency and his Bomachoge Borabu counterpart Obadiah Barongo for broking peace between the communities.

“We have been facing a lot of problems like water shortage and lack peace but since the government intervention to pacify the area our girls were able to tackle the examination in a calm environment with courage and you can see the results of that peace.” She said

The Principal cited unity among her staff, individual determination by the candidates to excel and support from parents as other strong factors that propelled and propped the girls to perform well.

Cynthia Mokua, a form four student whose sister was among those scored good grades from the school led other students to beseech President William to fulfill his promise of providing the institution with school bus when he visited it 2017.

“At that time I was in the neighboring primary school and heard him promise this school a bus when we came to entertain him, now I am in secondary school and still the bus has not been delivered here.” She claimed.

Change appealed to area MP and MCA Timothy Ogugu to intervene and make a follow up on President’s promise on the possibility of the bus delivery saying that if they get it, it will ease the students’ travel to academic tours and transport them to and from sports and games activities” venues then boost their morale of good examinations performance.

She thanked Magenche Ward Education Boosters Association for their moral and encouragement of learners to do well in the examinations and sports.

Other small schools that posted good KCSE results include Mokubo,Nyakorere and Kenyenya.

Kenyenya Secondary School that has stagnated in posting poor examination results for the past six years, surprised many when they posted a mean grade of 6.2 up from 4.5 in 2024.

The school’s director of studies Ben Makiri briefed Education News that the school had a total candidature of 48 students out of which 21 attained C+ plus and above to enable them get direct entry to University.

There were 2 candidates who scored grades B+ plus and B plain,9 in B- minus,10 scored C+ plus 8 and 12 in C Plain and C- minus respectively while 3 candidates landed on grade D+ plus and the last two lay on grade D plain.

He cited recurring financial crisis that crippled and a few disturbances caused by the unsupportive community who held negative attitude to the school and enrolled their children in other schools.

He appealed to the community to change the negative attitude towards the institution and join hands to develop it.

“The school is now under a new Madam Principal who is known for good leadership skills let our parents return their children here to receive quality education.” He said.
