A principal from Kuresoi Sub-county, Nakuru County has challenged parents to take the lead in ensuring their children return to school, saying education is a basic right that should not be denied to any learner.
Speaking to the press, Amalo Secondary School principal Kiprono Bii said parents must play their role to guarantee uninterrupted learning for their children.
“Education is a fundamental right, and no child should miss school under any circumstances,” said Bii. “As school heads, we have already held consultative meetings and planned adequately on how to implement this term’s teaching programme.”
Bii noted that learning was already underway in several schools within the area, with Form Three and Form Four students having reported back.
“At the moment, Form Three and Form Four learners are already in school, while Grade 10 students are expected to report next week,” he said.
He further urged parents to ensure timely payment of school fees to avoid disruptions that occur when students are sent home.

“We appeal to parents to pay school fees on time so that learning is not interrupted,” Bii added. “Frequent fee-related send-offs negatively affect students’ academic progress.”
The school head also confirmed that preparations for the admission of Grade 10 learners were complete, calling on parents whose children have received admission letters to ensure they report as scheduled.
“All is set for the admission of Grade 10 learners. Parents should ensure that those who have been called to various schools report on time so that learning can begin without delays,” he said.
At the same time, the school head challenged the government to release capitation funds on time, warning that delays hinder the smooth running of school programmes.
“Delayed disbursement of capitation affects learning activities and the general management of schools,” Bii noted, adding that timely release of funds would enhance service delivery and improve learning outcomes.
The principals reiterated their commitment to providing quality education, urging cooperation among parents, learners and the government to ensure a smooth academic term.
