Nakuru County establishes 11 centres of excellence to equip youth with technical skills

Nakuru County has established eleven Centres of Excellence covering different fields within all of its sub counties to boost technical skills among youth.

Speaking in her office, the County Executive Committee Member of Education Ziporah Ngugi urged youth to enrol in Centre of Excellence of Nakuru County Vocational Training Centres in order to learn various professional technical skills which will be useful to their future life.

Ngugi added that the County Government under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika is committed to equip all youth in 11 sub counties of Nakuru with technical skills.

“The County pay Ksh.30,000 fees annually per trainee, parents are only required to meet the examination and lunch costs, students who apply for bursaries may have their lunch cost covered making education in Vocational Training Centres free, we sincerely thank Governor Kihika for focusing on youth empowerment through technical skills,” Ngugi said

She said that the county have established Centre of Excellence in Molo Sub County in Electronics at Molo Vocational Training Centre located at Molo Town, Food and Beverage in Naivasha Sub County at Mirera Technical and Vocational centre.

In Nakuru East and Nakuru West Sub Counties,the Centre of Excellence in Information Communication Technology in Bondeni and Agriculture in Baruti respectively

She said that in Bahati  Sub County, has Building and Construction located at Kagoto Vocational Training Centre in Kiamaina Ward while in Gilgil SubCounty the Centre of Excellence in Fashion is located in the Vocational Training Centre

Rongai Subcounty the County established the Motor Vehicle and Mechanics centre while in Subukia Sub County has Carpentry in Vocational Training Centre.

Kuresoi North Sub County has the Hair Dressing while Kuresoi South Sub County has the Centre of Excellence in Fashion Design.

Njoro Sub County have the Centre of Excellence in Metal Processing at Njoro Vocational Training Centre located at Njoro Town.

Ngugi who was accompanied by Chief Officer Inchage of Education Martine Kagai , urged the parents in the County to use this opportunity to enrol their children in these Centre of Excellence in Nakuru County Vocational Training centre
