Orero Boys High School has confirmed a change of guard following the retirement of Chief Principal Dickens Bula, who officially handed over leadership to Mr. Thomas Otieno from Ringa Boys High School. The transition marks the end of Mr. Bula’s tenure at the institution and his career in public service.
Bula said he is confident in the school’s stability, noting that Orero Boys has no outstanding financial obligations at the time of handover. “I am handing over Orero Boys High School in a stable condition with zero debt,” he said, emphasising that prudent financial management anchored his administration.
He attributed the school’s sound financial position to strict adherence to budgets, proper planning and disciplined execution of priorities. According to Bula, financial discipline ensured the institution met operational and academic needs without accumulating liabilities, safeguarding uninterrupted learning and institutional stability.
The outgoing principal highlighted the strengthening of systems as a core focus of his leadership, saying clear administrative and financial structures were established to enhance accountability and efficiency. “I leave confident that the systems we put in place will help the school move forward and sustain the gains achieved over the years,” he noted.

Bula expressed satisfaction in retiring with the school on a firm footing, adding that Orero Boys is well-positioned for its next phase of growth. He urged stakeholders to remain committed to discipline, teamwork and shared responsibility to sustain positive outcomes.
Reflecting on his service, he said effective school leadership requires consistency, transparency and collective effort. He credited progress at the institution to cooperation among teachers, parents and education stakeholders, noting that shared commitment was central to the school’s achievements.
Bula also underscored the importance of orderly transitions, describing the smooth handover as a sign of institutional maturity. He said structured succession helps safeguard gains made over time and ensures continuity beyond individual office holders.
He departs after presiding over a period marked by stability and accountability, leaving behind a school he describes as financially sound and prepared to build on established foundations.
