Parents, teachers and guardians of learners transitioning to Senior School have been issued clear instructions on how to download Grade 10 admission letters via the Ministry of Education’s placement portal, as the Competency‑Based Curriculum transition advances.
The joining instructions are now available online and can be accessed either through public access or by Junior School administrators, ensuring a smooth handover from Junior to Senior School.
For public access, parents are directed to visit placement.education.go.ke and select the “Download Letter” option on the landing page. They will be prompted to enter the learner’s Assessment Number and the Junior School KNEC Code. After clicking “Get Admission Letter,” the learner’s name will appear to confirm readiness, allowing parents to download the admission letter and accompanying joining instructions.
A second pathway is available through Heads of Junior Schools, who can log into the same portal using official credentials. Upon successful login, administrators can retrieve learner records and download admission letters by selecting the “Download Letter” button at the end of each record, streamlining access for families who prefer school‑facilitated support.

Education officials have clarified that admission letters downloaded through the public page are identical to those accessed via the Junior School portal, a measure intended to guarantee consistency and avoid confusion among parents and schools. Families are encouraged to download the letters early to allow adequate time for preparation, including reporting dates, school requirements and other instructions issued by receiving Senior Schools.
Parents experiencing challenges such as incorrect details or difficulty accessing the portal, are advised to seek assistance from Junior School heads to resolve issues promptly.
