Felix Kamaku has won the coveted Tufunzeni Teacher award, capping a remarkable run of recognition for his leadership in technology‑enabled education. Kamaku is widely credited with helping classrooms transition to effective digital practice, championing tools and methods that strengthen pedagogy rather than replace it.
Kamaku’s recent honours include two major awards presented during the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebrations: a National ICT Innovation Award and an international UNESCO-linked recognition, both awarded through the Teachers Service Commission. These recognitions build on an Honorary Doctorate he received in 2024 from Vision for Excellence International University, in partnership with the AdvoCare Institute of California, for his outstanding contributions to educational leadership.
At the core of Kamaku’s work is teacher empowerment. As a Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow, Expert and Trainer (2019–2025), an HP IDEA Fellow for East Africa, and a leader within the Microsoft Education Africa ecosystem, he has trained and mentored thousands of teachers in Kenya and beyond. His sessions emphasize practical classroom integration using digital tools to improve engagement, streamline assessment and lift learning outcomes.

Over the past year, Kamaku has led large‑scale capacity‑building programmes on Microsoft Teams, Copilot, remote and blended learning strategies, livestreamed lessons and virtual laboratory exchange. Recognised nationally as an ICT Champion and Master Trainer, he has served as both Regional Master Trainer for Nairobi and National Master Trainer, reaching educators across diverse school contexts.
Beyond training, Kamaku contributes to system‑level improvement. He serves as an Online Mathematics Content Curator with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) and is a Trainer of Trainers in Competency‑Based Education and the Teacher Induction, Mentorship and Coaching (TIMEC) programme. These roles anchor his impact within curriculum delivery and professional development pipelines.
