The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) is set to convene its 2025 Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) in Homa Bay County, bringing together teacher representatives from across the country to chart the union’s agenda for the coming year.
The conference will be hosted at Tom Mboya University under the theme “Protecting teachers’ welfare, defending professionalism and strengthening collective bargaining.”
The ADC, a key decision-making forum of the union is anchored on the principles of accountability, democracy, and credibility.
According to KUPPET leadership, the 2025 ADC will reaffirm the union’s commitment to principled leadership, transparent governance and speaking with one strong voice on behalf of all post-primary school teachers.
Top on the agenda will be the protection of teachers’ rights with the union vowing to continue defending members against unfair dismissal, victimization and exploitation while ensuring due process in all employment-related matters.
Delegates are also expected to deliberate on strategies to improve terms and conditions of service, including fair salaries, timely promotions, allowances, job security, comprehensive medical cover and humane working environments for all teachers, including Junior Secondary School (JSS) tutors.
The conference will further emphasize collective bargaining and social dialogue, with KUPPET reiterating its preference for structured engagement with the government, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and other stakeholders through Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and negotiations rather than confrontation.

Professional dignity and respect will also take center stage as the union seeks to uphold the integrity and status of teachers within society and the education system.
Democratic unionism is expected to be reinforced with delegates pushing for greater accountability, transparency and member participation in union affairs through forums such as the ADC.
Equity, inclusion, and representation form another critical pillar, with KUPPET championing fair representation of women, persons with disabilities, and emerging cadres, particularly JSS teachers, in leadership and decision-making structures.
In addition, the ADC will address teachers’ welfare and social protection, including benevolent schemes, legal aid and solidarity during times of hardship.
The union will also reaffirm its role in defending quality public education through advocacy for proper staffing, adequate funding and sound education policies.
