The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed all intern teachers serving in Githunguri Sub-county to renew their contracts ahead of the expiry of the current engagement on January 1, 2026.
The directive was issued by Sub-County Director Mary Ringera, who underscored that the renewal process is compulsory for every intern intending to continue under TSC in the coming year.
According to the official notice, interns must secure a Personal Accident Cover valid for the entire duration of the new contract — from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
The cover must be presented in its original hard copy, duly stamped and signed by the issuing insurance provider. Failure to meet these requirements may affect an intern’s eligibility for renewal.
The renewal exercise will take place on December 9, 2025, at Githunguri Township Primary School, starting at 11:00 a.m.
All intern teachers are required to appear in person, with the notice making no provision for absenteeism or remote submissions.

Additionally, interns who opt not to renew their contracts will be required to sign a formal declaration confirming their decision.
This declaration must be signed in the presence of the Sub-County Director.
The TSC has also instructed all Heads of Institution within Githunguri Sub-county to ensure that intern teachers under their supervision are fully prepared for the exercise.
The directive is part of the Commission’s continued efforts to enhance compliance, streamline staffing, and ensure smooth operations ahead of the 2026 school calendar.
