Nyamira County has marked the second graduation of the county sponsored information and computer science (ICT), the even which saw 32 students awarded with certificates.
Speaking during the ceremony, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Education, Emily Ongaga said that Digital literacy is vital in the current generation and underscored need for the youth to embrace it for their sustainability.
She added that the county will continue partnering with various public and private institutions to offer education to the youth to equip them with the use of modern science technology.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Amos Nyaribo, the Secretary said the ceremony was the second in the series that is intended to graduate 360 students in ICT each year.
She told the graduands to use the skills they acquired to get employed or start their own businesses that will help them absorb their colleagues and help in solving part of the unemployment problem among the youths from the region.

The 32 students who graduated with certificates in ICT were equipped on content creation, computer repairers, web designers and other varieties of information technology relate fields
Ongaga assured the students and their parents of the authenticity and viability of the programme because it is by seasoned experts hosted at the County’s ICT hub with enough learning materials.
“The ICT hub is well managed with 32 working stations with high speed internet “She said.
She lauded education development partners like Huwei, Jitune and other local banks for sponsoring the programmes.
She reiterated the main objective of the programme as geared towards the reduction of poverty among the residents of Nyamira.
The ceremony was attended by various Nyamira County government officers led by Nyamira South Deputy County County Commissioner who represented Nyamira County Commissioner who represented her boss Eratus Mbui,the County Commissioner for Nyamira.
