Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei on Tuesday chaired a crucial meeting with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Social Health Authority (SHA) Steering Committee to assess preparations for the upcoming teachers’ transition to SHA.
The session focused on ensuring a smooth and seamless transfer of teachers’ medical functions to SHA, which is scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2025.
According to Koskei, all preparations are progressing well, with robust measures put in place to strengthen coordination between the two institutions.
“We are committed to ensuring that teachers continue to access health services without disruption during the transition period,” he said, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and clear communication.

The meeting brought together senior officials from both TSC and SHA to review operational plans, identify potential challenges, and agree on strategies to mitigate any risks.
Key areas of focus included staff integration, information systems alignment, and financial arrangements necessary to support the transfer.
This move marks a significant step in enhancing the delivery of health services to Kenya’s teaching workforce.
By centralizing health administration under SHA, authorities aim to streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and improve service efficiency for teachers across the country.
