Makueni accident claims life of three school children

Makueni County is mourning following yesterday’s fatal accident which claimed the life of three school children leaving three others in Makueni county hospital.

In his press release Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo consoled with the bereaved families and extended his sympathy to those admitted in Makueni referral hospital.

Speaking to press at the hospital, Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili while visiting those admitted revealed that there is eight year old in critical condition but being attended in intensive care unit.

The accident happened at Ngoluni-Tawa road where a lorry ran over stationary matatu which was picking passengers killing six on the spot.

Education News established that one of the school children, a boy, admitted in the hospital lost both his mother and sister who had picked him from the school after his final paper and were heading home before their journey was cut short.

“We lost six lives and 11 were brought in Makueni County Referral hospital.  Among them are school children some of whom had completed their national examination yesterday and were heading home. It’s unbearable pain but we extend our condolences and sympathy to the families,” Mulili said

Mulili called upon the drivers to be careful on all other road users calling upon police to be serious on vehicle crackdown to make sure rules are followed to the latter.
