MoE to partner with KNEC to fine-tune examination policies to maintain assessments credibility and integrity

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba has reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to partner with Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to continue fine-tuning the present policies governing examinations on the most convenient way of maintaining the integrity and credibility of the National examinations.

Ogamba who spoke to various Principals who are also the examination centre managers at Kebabe Girls’ Secondary school in Nyamira County lauded them for the smooth administration of the 2025 National examinations that ended on 21st Friday.

“You have conducted this exercise with great diligent with the help of our tireless security officers and this is a clear demonstration of the importance of team work.” He said.

The CS said that although there were 418 reported individual cases of examination malpractices, he was satisfied with the general conduct of most stakeholders and said that those isolated cases will be dealt with through the law and those found guilt will be punished to serve as a warning to those contemplating to taint the good name of examinations in this country.

Concerning the confirmation of the Junior Secondary School teachers (JSS) intern teachers into permanent and pensionable professionals, he assured them of his support to realize their long yearned career fulfillment.

He promised that his office will work closely with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to create conducive learning environment to them by reviewing their career progression records and promote those who have stagnated on the same job group for a long time.

Answering a few concerns about the success of Competences Based Curriculum system in the country, he was quick to answer and told parents and teachers, who its midwife not to lose hope of supporting.

Giving the long history of its launch as early 2012,but has been stalking, he blamed the past regimes for its successful implementation delay and cited the recent retooling of Junior Secobdary School Teachers to reinforce its smooth learning.

He liked the critics of the system to ignorant parents who kept on mocking a child who is already born instead of feeding them with good food and security for healthy growth.

The CS took time to thank the 2025 KCSE candidates for their discipline and wished them success in the rest of their lives especially during the festive December Holiday.
