Sotik Constituency is set to get a National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) centre, the fifth of its kind in Kenya.
This was revealed by the area Member of Parliament MP Francis Sigei during the graduation ceremony held at Sotik Primary School for the trainees from NITA Kisumu branch, who said the centre will be established on seven acres of land in the Ngariet area.
The announcement marks a major milestone in the constituency’s ongoing efforts to empower youth through skills development and vocational training.
The new centre is expected to provide accessible technical training opportunities, create jobs, and boost the local economy.
The graduation ceremony brought together Mike Kimoko, Director of Administration at the State Department of Labour, NG-CDF Sotik officials, NITA representatives, residents, and other local leaders.

The trainees, whose courses were fully sponsored by NG-CDF Sotik, received their certificates and essential tools for the trades they successfully completed.
Speaking at the event, MP Sigei congratulated the graduates for their hard work, discipline, and commitment.
“Your success is our collective pride,” he said. “Keep working hard, believe in yourselves, and use these skills to uplift your families and our constituency.”
Kimoko commended the partnership between NITA and NG-CDF for promoting skills development at the grassroots level.
He emphasized that initiatives like these are vital in addressing youth unemployment and fostering self-reliance among young people.
Community members welcomed both the graduation and the announcement of the new NITA centre, noting that the initiative will transform the constituency by equipping residents with practical skills, creating livelihoods, and boosting economic growth.
