Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has directed all students to resume classes effective Wednesday, October 8, 2025, following successful consultations with key stakeholders.

In an internal memo dated October 7, 2025, and signed by Prof. Hussein S. A. Golicha, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Students Affairs, the institution confirmed that normal teaching and learning activities will proceed without further disruption.

“Normal teaching and learning will continue uninterrupted following consultations with stakeholders. All students are expected to resume classes with effect from 8th October, 2025,” reads part of the memo.

The communication, addressed to all staff and students, further directed academic and administrative staff to report to their respective stations and attend to students as the university returns to full operations.

“Academic and Administrative Staff are expected to attend to the students and discharge their duties,” Prof. Golicha stated.

The university management expressed gratitude to both staff and students for their patience and cooperation during the period of consultations, assuring them of continued stability in academic and administrative processes.

“The University appreciates your understanding as normalcy resumes in the academic and administrative processes,” the memo concluded.

The notice was copied to senior officials including the Vice Chancellor, other Deputy Vice Chancellors, Registrars, Deans of Schools, and the Chairman of the Masinde Muliro University Students Organization (MMUSO).

The announcement comes after weeks of uncertainty over academic operations at the Kakamega-based institution. The directive is expected to restore normalcy on campus as students and lecturers prepare to resume the semester’s academic calendar.
