The Western Region TVETs Fair concluded yesterday, successfully at the Sigalagala National Polytechnic in Kakamega County, after impressive showcasing of innovations and skills from 31 participating institutions.
Antony Oware, the Western Region TVET Director and chief guest at the closing ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) for their pivotal role in the event’s success.
He commended the teams from the Western Region that will be advancing to the national level, emphasizing the importance of creativity and innovation in technical education.
During his address, Oware highlighted how creative ideas evolve from the mind to paper, eventually resulting in tangible innovations. He expressed his admiration for the projects exhibited by various institutions and encouraged them to refine their innovations as they prepare for the upcoming national competition.

He urged participants to ensure that their creations are fully functional as they advance and emphasized the importance of embracing the new modularized curriculum introduced by the ministry. He noted that this curriculum is both cost-effective and time-efficient, encouraging college principals to support its successful implementation.
Mayoya, the KATTI Western chair and Principal of Chanzeywe TVC in Vihiga County, also extended his thanks to all the institutions that participated in the 2025 Fair.
With 31 institutions taking part and 27 showcasing their projects in 15 learning areas, the event highlighted the talents and skills within the region. The top three teams in each learning area received awards, celebrating their achievements and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
