The State department of TVET representative Kioko Mutua has encouraged trainees participating in the Technical Vocational Education and Training, (TVET) Fair competitions to use the events as a stepping stone to brighten their future in terms of skills development.
Speaking during the closing assembly of KATTI northern region research and knowledge management exhibitions and skills competitions held at Wote TTI in Makueni, Mutua said that innovations presented by the trainees should not be kept in the books but rather turned into reality.
“I have seen and witnessed great innovations. Whatever you have presented here, do not go and relax, work on them and try to improve as you head to nationals,” Mutua advised.

Mutua added that as TVET they have gone CBET way to produce very competitive products and skills.
Chairman for KATTI research and knowledge management Dr. Timothy Kilonzo noted that about 14 institutions participated in the trade fair competitions.
He called upon all institutions to make sure that they participate going forward, adding that this is the best chance for them to prove and showcase their skills.
“These competitions can take you far as an individual; let us give our trainees that chance. Though the competitions are very expensive, bringing all the trainees on board will make them succeed in various avenues,” Kilonzo said.

The chairman, who is also Machakos town TVC principal, noted that there is a possibility that the next competitions will be held in the market since it’s all about showcasing. He added that they will also bring onboard their supply chain adding that the direction will be helpful to all.
The host deputy principal academic affairs Jessy Kitusa representing the principal for Wote technical, noted that TVET has grown over time and that they are still emphasizing the demonstration of skills.
“As TVETs we are aiming at 2 million enrollments across the country to support vision 2030 in industrialization.” He said

He thanked the girls for coming up to compete with their male counterparts in such serious projects and courses encouraging many to join in the innovations.
Harun Musembi Nthiwa a project supervisor at Wote technical training institute called upon the government to support these projects so that they can be actualized and solve some perennial problems in the society and world in general.
“These students are very rich in knowledge and skills which they ought to actualize in the society and to better their lives,” Nthiwa.
