Narok West Member of Parliament, MP Gabriel Tongoyo has commissioned twenty mobile digital labs to various local schools to boost the technological and digital skills in the constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning of the equipment at a colourful event attended by education officials, parents and community leaders, Tongoyo said the initiative is a deliberate step to give learners in rural schools equal opportunities to acquire digital skills and to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
“The mobile laboratories are essential in the teaching and learning of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. They serve as hubs of discovery, experimentation and innovation, which are key pillars in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC),” said Tongoyo.
He added that the mobile labs will enable Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners to access computers, science apparatus and learning software without being confined to permanent laboratories, a move that reduces infrastructure gaps and widens access.
Among the schools that benefited are Oldany, Ngiito, Olchoro, Kuto, Koitamugul, Kipsongol, Agaanga, Oltepesi and Kiptendet primary schools.
During the same event, the MP also commissioned four new classrooms at Keneti Primary School and two at Oldany Primary School, all built and equipped through NG-CDF. These additional learning spaces are intended to ease congestion and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Tongoyo further launched the construction of the Mulot ICT Hub, a flagship project expected to become a focal point for digital literacy and innovation.
The hub will provide computers, high-speed internet and training facilities, empowering the youth and other members of the community with skills vital for the modern job market.
“The ICT hub will foster economic growth by providing computers, internet and training to empower the community especially the youth to participate in the digital economy and improve their lives. Residents will also be able to access government services online at no cost,” explained Tongoyo, who also chairs the Security Committee in the National Assembly.
The parents and local leaders present lauded the MP for prioritising education and technology. They noted that the mobile laboratories and new classrooms will greatly improve teaching and learning in the area by exposing students to practical science lessons, digital learning tools and innovative teaching methods.
They further said the ICT hub would reduce the cost and time involved in travelling to urban centres to access online services, while also creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and digital jobs.
With these interventions, Narok West is positioning itself as a model constituency for integrating technology and education in line with the government’s broader push to strengthen the Competency-Based Curriculum and prepare learners for future careers in science, technology and innovation.
