The second edition of the Elimu Mashinani forum was held at Pwani University in Kilifi County on Tuesday, September, 2025.
The interactive engagement hosted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and broadcast live on Citizen TV brings together education stakeholders for conversations on pertinent issues affecting learning in the host county and Kenya as a whole.
The forum also aims to promote locally sourced mitigations to county-specific challenges while enhancing stakeholder partnerships to benefit the learning experience and outcomes.
The programme provides an opportunity for policy formulators, grassroots implementers, and other stakeholders to map out both immediate and long-term interventions and collaborative approaches that are essential to unique educational environments.

In Kilifi, the audience engaged with the Education CS, Julius Ogamba, and the three PSs in the Ministry: Prof. Julius Bitok (Basic Education), Dr Beatrice Inyangala (Higher Education), and Dr Esther Mworia (TVET).
Notable issues discussed included the contributing factors to the high percentage (72%) of KCSE candidates in the County who scored D+ and below in last year’s exams, teenage parents, cultural practices that undermine school enrollment and retention, high dropout levels, and inadequate learning infrastructure, especially in laboratories.

The forum follows the premier event that was hosted in Narok on 2nd September this year. The County that will host the following discussion will be unveiled in due course, with each of the 47 devolved units expected to hold a similar forum.
