The Ministry of Education through the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) have invited 50 Principals from the selected TVET institutions modelling Green TVETs for a workshop on how to translate the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) outcomes into green jobs and skills for the TVET students.
In a circular notice dated September 17, and signed the TVET Principal Secretary Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, the convened Senior Management Workshop, which will run from September 22-27, will enable TVET institutions to translate the ACS2 priorities into institutional action plans and roadmaps for green skills development.
“Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), held in Addis Ababa from 8th to 10th September 2025, adopted far-reaching commitments to accelerate Africa’s climate action. Central to these commitments are the mobilization of climate finance, the creation of millions of green jobs, and the integration of green skills within TVET systems and ensuring that TVET institutions remain at the forefront of preparing a workforce that is ready for the green and just transition.”

During the workshop, Principals and the ministry will discuss on how to deepen understanding of ACS2 outcomes and their implications for TVET, analyze green jobs and skills opportunities for Kenya’s youth, co-design institutional Green Skills and workforce Roadmaps aligned to national, continental, and global frameworks, and commit to measurable actions, including the integration of green skills in CBET curricula in partnerships with industry
The PS further clarified that the Greening TVET and Climate Change Division will coordinate the workshop while Kiambu National Polytechnic will coordinate the facilitation of the workshop by the participating institutions.
