Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) teachers in Kakamega have called on the government to review the Social paper 2 which stated that the Junior schools remain domiciled in Comprehensive Primary schools.
Speaking during press briefing for Kakamega County teachers led by Kenedy Wiva, the teachers said that they have presented the petition for review of Social Paper two of 2024 in parliament which they say undermines the autonomy of junior secondary schools and teachers.
The teachers maintained the if the trend continues they will lose their identity and risks of professional growth
Wiva further pointed out that governance and accountability under primary school heads undermines the distinct academic psychosocial needs of JSS learners and teachers
