Learners from from Kakamega County have been asked to embrace ICT learning to acquire the vital skills required around the globe.
Speaking when he delivered the state of the art laptops to Friends Malava Girls School, Joseph Ngaira Busiega who is the chief of staff in the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, encouraged the learners to seriously enroll for computer classes as it was marketable and on demand across the world.

Busiega who donated the 20 laptops on behalf of the Prime CS’s office said the office scouted the gadgets from the American institutions as part of them empowering the learners in matters information technology.
This follows after the school Principal Rose Abuko, approached him to intervene as the school was not having enough computers to enable students learn computer.
Busiega further explained that science is key to the learners as the World is moving towards forward to the 4th industrial revolution hence need to empower learners to be as competitive as any other person out there.

“Information, communication technology (ICT) has been one of the girl’s biggest needs and we have donated the first batch and we will also ensure that the gadgets are connected to the internet to allow online learning and we want these students to excel in technology as artificial intelligence (AI) was where the world was headed” he said.
He also hinted that the government is setting up call centres and digital hubs in each ward that will need young people with digital literacy to work there.
He encouraged the young people to seriously learn computer as there was more online jobs paying well where they could earn at the comfort of their homes using a laptop and internet connection.
“Information technology (IT), is the current equalizer and the likes of Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerbug are a living testimonies of how internet has changed their lives and even in Kenya the government is digitizing all its services.”
He assured the management of the school that Dr. Musalia Mudavadi had the school in mind and will transform it to the next level.

The school principal Rose Abuko was all smiles upon receiving the laptops and stated that it was a big transformation to the institution.
“We are very grateful for the office of the prime cabinet secretary and our new board member for their noble gesture and their pledge to facelift the school, this will impact well on our academic and will improve our admission too”.
The school board of management Francis Murambi said the new board was vigorously working behind the scenes to revamp the school and thanked the prime cabinet secretary for his efforts to facelift the institution.
Other schools set to benefit is both Malava and Lukala primary who will each receive 5 laptops respectively
