Parents in Kakamega County have been encouraged to embrace learners living with disabilities and provide them with equal rights in education.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution of beddings, mattresses and blankets exercise, the county committee executive member (CECM) Jackline Masicha, stated that disabled children should not be segregated as they have equal opportunities too that should awarded to them.
“Our Kenyan constitution has not secluded persons living with disabilities (PLWD’s), hence these learners should be given equal rights including the righto shelter food and education” she uttered.

She encouraged parents to present their disabled children so as to have them be identified to benefit from government support, including access to assistive devices.
Masicha observed that despite the learners having disability challenges many have excelled in their academics and were competing fairly with the normal ones in the job market.
