Narok County to employ 300 new ECDE teachers to boost education

Narok Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech has announced that the county government is planning to recruit 300 new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers as part of its efforts to boost the education sector and create job opportunities.

Speaking during the burial of Samuel Arap Kosgei at Ngiito area in Narok West Sub-county, Koech revealed that the proposal has already been tabled before the County Assembly.

He expressed confidence that once approved, the move will significantly improve access to quality early childhood education across the county.

“We want to create more employment opportunities for our people, especially in education. The proposal is already before the County Assembly and once approved, it will give us the chance to employ 300 new ECDE teachers,” said Koech.

The deputy governor emphasized that the county government is committed to strengthening education from the foundation.

“Early childhood education is the bedrock of learning. If our children are not given a strong foundation, then the future of their education will always face challenges. That is why as a county, we are prioritizing ECDE,” he added.

Koech also reassured residents that the county leadership will continue to allocate more resources to the education docket.

“We know parents have made sacrifices to educate their children. Our role as a government is to complement those efforts by ensuring our schools have the right teachers, facilities, and support systems,” he said.

The burial ceremony was also attended by several prominent leaders, including former Narok Senate aspirant Andrew Sunkuli, County Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of Education and Sports Robert Simotwo, and Members of County Assembly Duncan Bore (Ilmotiok) and Jackson Ngok (Kapsasian).

In his remarks, Sunkuli underscored the importance of prioritizing education.

“When we invest in education, we invest in our future. A county that does not take education seriously will always lag behind. I am happy the county government is focusing on ECDE because that is where success begins,” Sunkuli said.

He added: “We must ensure our children have teachers, classrooms, and proper learning materials. That is the only way to secure their future and prepare a generation that will lead Narok to greater heights,” he added.
