Funyula Member of Parliament, MP Wilberforce Mudenyo has launched the second phase of a skills acquisition program aimed at equipping residents with practical vocational training.

The initiative running under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), will be implemented in partnership with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and local Vocational Training Centers (VTCs).

The program, which will run from September to December 2025, will offer short courses fully funded by the NG-CDF and beneficiaries will not be required to pay for tuition, examinations, or certification.

The training is expected to provide participants with employable skills and promote self-reliance, particularly among the youth.

Recruitment and career guidance sessions are scheduled to begin on September 8, 2025 as the exercise being conducted across several VTCs, including Namasali, Ganga, Busibw, and Nangina.

The courses on offer cover a wide range of trades, among them hairdressing, beauty therapy, cosmetology, welding, carpentry and joinery, tiling, masonry, garment making, plumbing, and electrical installation. Officials say the training areas were selected to match market demand and create pathways for self-employment.

Mudenyo described the program as a transformative opportunity for Funyula residents noting that many young people in the constituency struggle with limited job prospects due to lack of technical skills. By funding vocational training, he said, the government is creating a foundation for both employment and entrepreneurship.

The legislator urged residents, especially school leavers and job seekers, to seize the opportunity and position themselves for long-term economic empowerment. He added that skills development remains a cornerstone of his development agenda for Funyula.
