Kibabii University has begun a three-day typhoid vaccination exercise for all first-year students as part of its health and orientation programme.
In a memo dated August 25 from the Office of the Registrar, Academic Affairs, the university directed ‘freshers’ to receive the jab at the institution’s health centre between August 26 and 28.
The schedule indicates that students from the School of Education (SOE) and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) will be vaccinated today, August 26. The School of Computing and Informatics (SCAI) and the School of Business and Economics (SOBE) are slated for tomorrow, August 27, while the School of Nursing (SON) and the Faculty of Science (FS) will complete the exercise on August 28. All sessions start at 9:00 a.m.
Registrar (Academic Affairs) Dr. Jackline M. Nafula, who signed the memo, urged students to strictly observe their respective dates, noting that the programme has been aligned with other orientation activities.

University officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to protect learners from typhoid, a bacterial infection that remains a public health concern in parts of Kenya.
The directive was also copied to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Deans of Faculties, and the Security Office.
Kibabii University, which is ISO 9001:2015 certified, emphasized that the vaccination exercise demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its students as they embark on their academic journey.
