Uganda’s Bukedea, St Noah Girls crowned FEASSSA football champions as regionals games end in Kakamega
Bukedea Comprehensive School from Uganda are the new Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) boys’ football champions after defeating Kenyan representatives Musingu High School 2-1 in a tense final held at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
The victory marked a historic moment for Bukedea, who showcased resilience and tactical discipline to outwit a spirited Musingu side.
The match capped off the 2025 regional games hosted in Kakamega County, bringing together the best secondary school teams from East Africa.
The road to the final was not without drama. On Thursday, the highly charged semi-final clash between Musingu and St. Joseph Boys High School from Kitale which was abandoned in the 84th minute at Bukhungu Stadium after fans stormed the pitch.

The invasion came moments after Musingu had equalized to cancel out St. Joseph’s earlier penalty goal. In the chaos, several St. Joseph players were injured, prompting tournament officials to call off the match on safety grounds.
Organizers later ordered the semi-final to be replayed on Friday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, starting from the 85th minute where it had been stopped.
After the resumption, neither side could find the winner in regulation or extra time, forcing the game into penalties. Musingu eventually triumphed 4-3 in the shootout to book their ticket to the final against Bukedea.
In the championship match, Musingu’s dream of lifting the regional crown ended in heartbreak after throwing away their lead as Bukedea held firm, taking advantage of defensive lapses to seal a 2-1 victory and confirm Uganda’s growing dominance in regional football.
The girls’ category was equally dominated by Ugandan schools. St. Noah Girls edged fellow Ugandans Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the final to lift the crown.

The path to the all-Ugandan final saw St. Noah narrowly beat Amus College Girls 1-0 in the semi-final, while Kawempe Muslim overpowered Kenyan Side Bishop Njenga Girls 4-2 in the other last-four clash.
With both the boys’ and girls’ titles heading to Uganda, the regional games highlighted the country’s strength in nurturing young football talent.
For Kenyan sides, however, it was a bitter-sweet tournament, Musingu coming close in the boys’ competition while Bishop Njenga fell short in the girls’ category.
As the curtains came down on the FEASSSA Games, Uganda celebrated a double victory, cementing its status as the new powerhouse of East African secondary school football.
