The Ministry of Education, (MoE) has started conducting a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify capacity building requirements for various cadres of officers who will use and manage the upgraded Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS)
Basic Education Director at the Ministry of Education, Stephen Barongo has issued a directive to regional directors of education, county directors of education and sub county directors of education to facilitate the administration of the digital questionnaires to officers under their purview.
The digital questionnaires will be issued to operational level; principals, head of teachers, deputies, teachers, Boards of Management (BOM)
In the administrative level they will be issued to ; county directors of education (CDEs), Sub County Directors of Education (SCDEs) ,quality assurance and standards officers (QASOs) ,internal School Auditors.

MoE has also issued the same to individuals in strategic level who include Stakeholders (MoE, SAGAs, TSC) and in Technical ICT Officers, EMIS Developers, Database Admins, System Admins, Cyber Security, Network Engineers, Data Analysts
The ministry instructed the directors of education to ensure education officials, secondary school principals and principals of comprehensive school under their jurisdiction mobilize relevant participants to respond to the questionnaires.
The questionnaire is available at the KEMI website through KEMI website https://www.kemi.ac.ke/survey/
MoE is upgrading the current National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) to KEMIS to improve efficiency.
KEMIS will enhance data security and provide easier access for education administrators, policymakers, and parents.
The new system will support strategic decision making, foster transparency and contribute significantly to attainment of quality and inclusive education for all Kenyans
