Makueni County Executive Committee Member (ECM) for ICT, Education, and Internship, Japheth Mangoka has revealed that the permanent employment of ECDE teachers in Makueni County is beginning to yield results.
The county has so far employed around 1000 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
While appreciating the teachers and participants for the commendable ongoing music festival performance in Meru, Mangoka thanked Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo junior for making such a move, adding that it was a permanent way of empowering the teachers who are for sure appreciating by working hard and making sure the kids are participating at all levels, including nationals.
“So far, the performance is very outstanding. We participated in various categories, including dance, shairi, own composition, sacred own composition, Kamba folk songs, and many other categories,” he said.

The ECDE classes are shining in showcasing their talents, where Wisdom Manna from Mukuyuni primary wowed judges and the entire house with her solo verse category, class 2101G securing second place out of 16 entries.
Still in Mukuyuni ECDE, the Choral Set Piece competition, Class 130, secured seventh place among 16 entries.
Kathonzweni School’s “My Kingdom” in Class 100 was placed fourth out of eight entries.
In my composition, Ivoleni School took fourth position in class 157 out of 24 participants.
Nzambani’s Shairi la Kikundi in Class 2119G earned position six out of 16 entries, while Chief Kiamba’s Lavenders Blue in Class 130 took fourth among 13 entries.

In vocational colleges, Nduluku, Nziu, Kyanduya, among others, performed well in different categories.
The ECM added that 61 vocational centres are offering various skills, thus calling for parents to enrol their children in these skills.
He encouraged those who were unable to join universities to enrol in larger numbers.
“Parents, do not let your child stay at home doing nothing, even if they dropped out of school, enrol them on skills.”
We provide bursaries to support low-income families, enabling them to acquire skills in high demand in the market.
They can also employ themselves and create employment as well,” Mang’okaa added.
The ECM added that enrolling youths in colleges is a way of reducing societal vices, as they will be busy.
