Vihiga: Emuhaya to get another TVC in boost for youth skills

Residents of Vihiga County are set to benefit from the ongoing construction of the Ebunangwe Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in Emuhaya Constituency, a project valued at over KSh 44 million.

Launched in June 2025, the construction is already 65 per cent complete, with full completion expected by September 2025.

The project is being managed by Sigalagala National Polytechnic, which has initiated the tendering process for the remaining works as contractors continue to work on-site to meet the projected deadline.

Local leaders have welcomed the project, saying that the institution will play a crucial role in empowering youth and driving economic transformation in the region by enhancing access to technical education and vocational training.

Speaking during an inspection visit, TVET Director Joseph Sunguti praised the project’s pace and emphasised its long-term impact on the community.

“The construction is progressing well and we are optimistic that once complete, the college will serve as a centre for skills development and economic transformation,” said Sunguti.

The college is part of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s national agenda to expand and revitalise the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, ensuring that institutions are not only accessible but also aligned with modern industry demands.

The broader government strategy focuses on closing the skills gap, enhancing the quality of training, and making TVET programs industry-relevant and market-driven.
