The basic education Principal Secretary, PS Prof Julius Bitok yesterday launched a high-speed internet for West Pokot Schools.

Speaking during the launch of a network that would ensure all learners have access to the digital platform, Prof.  Bitok said the government will not relent in ensuring that there’s equity, relevance, access and quality of education regardless of where learning is taking place.

The free public WiFi services were launched at Ortum Mixed Secondary School, Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School, Saint Francis Ortum Boys Comprehensive School, and Saint Bernadette Ortum Girls Comprehensive School.

Bitok also stated that the initiative is a crucial element of the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance digital learning, drive innovation, and ensure that no learner in rural and marginalized areas is left behind in the digital revolution.

He added that equipping these schools with high-speed internet connectivity, would empower students and teachers with vital access to digital resources, e-learning platforms, and global knowledge networks which are essential tools for thriving in the 21st century.
