The government intends to build a Technical and Vocational Education Training institution (TVET) in every constituency so as to increase enrollment and skills uptake among the youth.

Principal Secretary, State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Ministry of Education Dr. Esther Muoria said currently the government is building 50 TVET institutions to add to the existing ones.

Dr Muoria who spoke yesterday at Katine Technical Training Institute in Matungulu said the government targets to increase enrollment from the current 8000 to 2 million trainees to TVET institutions this year.

She said the trend now is to make TVET training modular so that young people do not spend long periods of time in training institutions.
