Barely three months after making a promise, has President William Ruto fulfilled his Ksh20 million pledge to two Bomet schools, bringing relief and joy to the institutions?

The funds were officially delivered by Basic Education Principal Secretary, PS Prof. Julius Bitok.

The President made the pledge, following a request made by Chepalungu MP Victor Koech, popularly known as Mandazi in mid-April during the burial of long-serving MP, the late John Koech.

Speaking during the handover, MP Koech lauded the president for honoring the pledge, noting that the two institutions have shaped countless futures in the region. Each school received Ksh10 million, a timely intervention amid the current financial constraints affecting many schools.

In addition to the Ksh20 million, Prof. Bitok also committed Ksh1 million to the neighboring Segemik Secondary School to support learning activities.

“I also advocated for support towards Kiriba Integrated Secondary School — a school the late Ambassador Koech held close to his heart,” Koech added. “Prof. Bitok recognized the significance of Kiriba and kindly promised to follow up on its development.”

The move is a big boost to education in Chepalungu constituency, and this is expected to lift off burden from parents.
