Amagoro Primary and Comprehensive school in Teso North Constituency, Busia County on Tuesday, July 16, received 4 solar power panels from the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive of the President Arthur Amug Osiya worth Ksh1 million to aid in the rampant power outages.
The institution, Principal Ronald Odikor and Board of Management chairperson Helen Etyand, received the donation in the function held at the school compound. It was witnessed by other BOM members and the teaching staff.
Addressing the press, Odikor thanked PAS Osiya for the donation, noting that it will go a long way in eliminating the rampant power outages.
“The constant power outages will now be a thing of the past as teaching will not be interrupted, especially in computer classes,” he said, adding that it would drastically cut on electricity costs, urging other leaders to emulate that magnificent feat that will see learners’ education go uninterrupted.

He disclosed that the school has introduced French lessons courtesy of KIWIMBI Library, which had also seconded five teachers to boost the 19 team teaching capacity of the school.
Odikor who took over as the school head in 2022, is the 19th to head the institution since its inception in 1951. The school is being sponsored by the Anglican Church of Kenya, Katakwa Diocese.
He exuded confidence that the school would perform well in this year’s inaugural Kenya Junior School Assessment (KJSEA) exams later in the year.
To confirm that magnificent step, the recipient learners of the programs Maximilla Ikate, a Grade 8 student, and Patience July Otwane displayed their French speaking antics. Amagoro is among a few schools in the county offering course, thanks to the KIWIMBI Library.
The school’s BOM chair, Hellen Etyang, said they are very happy with Osiya’s kind gesture, noting that it will go a long way in power generation since electricity has become unreliable, adding that it will also reduce electricity costs to enable money saved be channeled elsewhere.

Etyang regretted the lack of drilled water at the school and appealed to the county government to help drill water at the learning institution.
She added that plans are on course to make the school a centre of excellence by bringing all alumni together.
A BOM member Kenaz Odikor reiterated that although Amagoro was the headquarters of all programs, the tapped water by the Busia Water Services Company (BWASCO) was not enough to alleviate water challenges at the learning institution.
A parent and BOM member, Robert Murega, thanked God for Osiya’s kind gesture for starting to bring development, noting that they are behind the PAS in assenting to the county’s leadership during 2027 elections.
“With the Solar Power, things will be better. The electricity bill is very high, and with minimum outages, it will help boost education standards.
An ICT teacher, Ephraim Okwara said the 1600 Watts to be generated from the four panels will help in boosting the school’s education standards.
“During bad weather, many disadvantages are associated with electricity supply. The use of green energy is the way to go, adding that solar power has a lifespan of 25 years,” he said, urging Kenyans to embrace it.
A Nambale resident who accompanied team Osiya, Simon Okaka thanked the PAS for a job well done, urging county residents to give him the mandate of county residents and spearhead rapid development for the benefit of everybody in the county.
