The Ministry of Education, (MoE) has issued a directive requiring all officers under the State Department for Basic Education to submit their academic and professional certificates for authentication by 31st July 2025.
This directive applies to all officers, regardless of when they were employed, and is part of an ongoing government effort to uphold integrity and eliminate fraud in the public service.
The verification follows a directive from the Public Service Commission (PSC), which has instructed all ministries and departments to authenticate the qualifications of their staff.
MoE is implementing this directive to confirm that all officers possess valid credentials and to guard against forged documentation.

A similar verification exercise conducted in October 2022 uncovered 1,019 public officers who had used forged academic or professional documents to secure employment or promotions.
This led to the dismissal of 449 officers from the civil service and also prompting stricter enforcement of qualification checks to prevent further cases of fraud.
Through this renewed effort, MoE aims to ensure that all officers meet the required academic and professional standards. The exercise is also seen as a step toward building trust in the education system by reinforcing merit-based appointments and promotions.
