Masige East Ward MCA Michael Motume has urged the youth to dedicate a significant amount of their time to studying and consulting with experts on the best subjects to specialise in, to achieve good grades that will lead them to better courses in University.

Speaking on Friday, when he presided over the issuance of Ward Education Bursary Funds to students of secondary and Technical Training institutes, Motume said there are other courses suitable for those who do not have access to University education, such as Kenya Medical Training Colleges, which offer nursing. He asked the youth to consider joining them.

He asked them to engage their minds in constructive critical thinking that can help them become active builders of this country, rather than indulging in hooliganism.

“God has given you good health and education and requires you to live a peaceful life by using the knowledge you have to utilise the environment and its resources well for your own benefit and other people,” he said.

He asked the youth who have attained 18 years and above to obtain National Identification Cards so that they can register as voters and vote for candidates of their own choice in the upcoming national elections.

” Your votes are the only best way of removing leaders you don’t want and replacing them with the right ones,” he said.

The MCA asked the youth to desist from destroying the planned Saba Saba commemoration and advised them to use it as an opportunity to reflect on the good things those who fought for the country’s independence did and honour them by embracing peace instead of causing internal frictions that might tear the country apart.

During the occasion, 36 Secondary Schools, including three TVETs, received a total of Shs. 4,980,000, with the driving school receiving the highest amount. 663,000, while the lowest, Sironga National School, received Shs. 12,000.

Motume thanked the Kisii County Government for increasing the Bursary allocation from Shs. 3 million to 5 million for each of the 45 Wards in the county, stating the money will help children from poor homes to access education.
