In a newly released report by Leeway Africa, twenty Members of Parliament have emerged as Kenya’s top performers based on public approval of their service delivery and impact since assuming office.
The survey, which assessed MPs through constituents’ feedback and local development benchmarks, names Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as joint leaders, each securing an impressive rating of 88.9%.
Coming in third is South Mugirango’s Silvanus Osoro with a score of 83.7%, followed by Githunguri’s Gathoni Wamuchomba at 77.1% and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi at 76.2%. Other top ten finishers include Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah (73.7%), Igembe South’s Paul Mwirigi (72.6%) and Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, who scored 70.8%. Completing the list are Beatrice Elachi of Dagoretti North (68.1%) and Ronald Karauri of Kasarani (67.2%).
It is worth noting that Lang’ata’s Felix Odiwour was the highest-ranked first-time MP in the country, an indicator of his rising political influence and the confidence voters have placed in his leadership. His inclusion among seasoned legislators signals a significant vote of confidence in emerging leadership figures within Parliament.
Lower down the list, but still within the top twenty, are familiar names like Didmus Barasa (65.7%), Tom Kajwang’ (65.1%), Benjamin Gathiru (64.5%), and Oscar Sudi (62.8%). Rounding off the rankings are John Kiarie (60.1%), Anthony Kibagendi (59.0%), Francis Kuria Kimani (57.9%), Peter Salasya (55.6%), George Aladwa, and Mark Mwenje of Embakasi West with 51.5%.
The report has sparked discussion among political watchers and citizens alike, with many interpreting the results as a reflection of grassroots engagement and constituency development priorities. Analysts have pointed to the balancing act between parliamentary duties and on-ground presence as a key determinant of popularity among voters.
Leeway Africa’s methodology included both in-person interviews and online feedback from registered voters, emphasizing factors such as infrastructure projects, legislative activity, education support, and accessibility of the MP.
