KUPPET Kisii boss raises alarm over security threats linked to appointment letter leak

Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Kisii County branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha has expressed concern about matters he said are causing him personal distress and threats to his life.

He revealed that his vehicle was broken into few days ago by unknown people and several personal important documents stolen including the letter which was later left behind.

“But the appointment letter, though left behind, was placed on the back seat and suspiciously doused in a strange substance,” stated the message.

He said that the act might have been done deliberately to scare and intimidate him but he thanked God for the protection over his life and family.

The secretary further expounded how he was troubled, confused and deeply concerned about the whole incident only to discover later that the same letter taken by the unknown people was being circulated on the social digital platforms prayed the malicious interims not to prosper.

He asked the members not to be divided by the forthcoming national elections campaigns because that will rob them of their noble duty of serving the children of this country and general humanity.

In a message seen by Education News directed to the members, Abincha briefed them about a copy of his appointment letter to the Kisii County Education Board (CEB), stating that the appointment is constitutional and told his critics to honor it.

“I want to state clearly and without ambiguity that this appointment is constitutional process established under the Basic Education Act where teachers are rightly represented at the county level,” state part of the letter.

He expressed his displeasure in the manner in which that confidential appointment letter is circulating is exposed and circulated through the social media.

The Secretary asked the teaching fraternity to remember him in their prayers urging them to remain firm and uphold the principles of serving the Union with dignity.

Some teachers who talked to Education News about the alleged matter, down played it and called it a delicate tool meant to seek self-sympathy for his re-election which he has sensed will have a stiff competition.
