The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), in collaboration with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), has officially opened the application window for the KMTC Students Financing Scheme Loan for the 2024–2025 financial year.

The loan, which is now accessible to both first-time and continuing students, is aimed at covering tuition fees for those pursuing certificate and diploma courses at KMTC.

The scheme is designed to provide much-needed financial support to students across the country, enabling them to focus on their studies without the burden of fees.

For first-time applicants, the application process is conducted entirely online via the HELB Student Portal at www.helb.co.ke. Eligible students must create an account using their National ID number and a personal mobile number registered in their name. After account activation, applicants are required to complete their personal profile, upload supporting documents, and submit the loan application form through the portal.

“Applicants are advised to read and understand all instructions provided, including completing the mandatory HEF Financial Literacy Programme before submission,” HELB stated.

Once the form is submitted, a PDF version will be sent to the applicant’s email, and the status of the application can be tracked via the student portal.

For students applying for a second or subsequent loan, the process is even more streamlined. They can apply via the HELB mobile app available on the Google Play Store or by dialing *642# on their phones. HELB has urged applicants to ensure that the mobile number used during registration is properly registered in their name.

The board emphasized the importance of accuracy and honesty in the application process.

“All applicants must provide truthful information and avoid interacting with suspicious messages or individuals promising to influence loan allocation. HELB does not charge any application fees,” the notice read.

In case of loss or change of phone number, students are advised to contact HELB immediately through the official email: contactcentre@helb.co.ke.

The deadline for submitting applications for both first-time and subsequent applicants is 24th June 2025. Students are encouraged to apply early and avoid the last-minute rush.
