The Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) on Monday, June 16 convened a high-level stakeholder sensitization forum at the Bungoma National Polytechnic, aimed at addressing persistent challenges in the rollout of the newly introduced modularized curriculum for technical and vocational training institutions.
The one-day consultative meeting brought together a cross-section of key players from the education and industry sectors, including principals, departmental heads from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, Technical and Vocational Colleges (TVCs), and County Vocational Training Centers (VTCs).
Also in attendance were industry liaison officers, County Directors of Education, and officials from the Ministry of Education representing both Bungoma and Busia counties.

The modularized curriculum officially rolled out in May this year is a key pillar of the government’s ongoing reforms in the TVET sector, designed to enhance learner mobility and skills progression through a structured framework from Level 3 to Level 6.
This modularized curriculum helps us move clearly from one level to the next, and ensures trainees build competencies progressively,” said Dr. George Oluoch, a senior representative from TVET CDACC, while addressing the gathering.
The forum served as part of CDACC’s broader national sensitization and fact-finding mission aimed at promoting awareness, gathering feedback, and ensuring seamless implementation of the curriculum across the country.

Participants lauded the initiative but also raised pressing concerns, including capacity gaps, alignment with industry demands, and the need for sustained government support to ensure smooth adoption.
By engaging stakeholders directly, CDACC hopes to bridge policy and practice, strengthen institutional readiness, and foster a collaborative ecosystem for technical education reform.
The Bungoma forum is one of several such engagements planned across the country as the council ramps up efforts to institutionalize competency-based, industry-driven training across Kenya’s TVET landscape.
